Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
This allows firefighters to enter areas low oxygen continent or highly contaminated environments.  We use Scottpaks that are around 2500-3000 psi when full.  This gives us approximately 30-15 minutes of  air depending on what activities are being done.  We also care a RITpak or rescue pack that can be used to rescue trapped firefighters.  These packs can be used as an air pack or used to fill the pack of the downed firefighter.  The pack also has rescue rope and other devices to help pull a victim clear of the fire.

Thermal Imagining Camera
The TIC can see through smoke to the source of the fire.  It's most important attribute to the public is it's ability to see through smoke to find trapped victims.  In the action shot you can see how the camera shows objects in colors from bright to dark that can be translated by the firefighter to hot or cold.

Extrication Equipment:

Jaws-of-life or Hurst tools can be used to removed injured victims from auto accidents or any other form of entrapments.  Currently we used a Combo-tool or Spreader/cutter, Ram, and airbags.

Rescue Jacks/Cribbing:
The are used to stabilize or shore-up vehicles or walls when that become unstable.  These are placed first to allow rescue personnel to remove those trapped during an emergency.

Gas meters:
The device can detect carbon monoxide and other combustible gas in the air.  In the event that your Carbon Monoxide detector activates get out first and call 911.  We can come out and determine if it is the real thing or a malfunction.

This carried on the first out engines.
